Total money lost $500
Type of a scam Credit Cards
I would like to warn others about this scam that’s targeting the elderly. This person claiming that they are from the Visa Credit Card Fraud Protection, called my 75 y.o. father-in-law and said that someone has made a $300 purchase on his credit card. These scammers asked for my dad’s information and the credit card information. They also told my father that he needs to purchase $500 worth of Google Play cards in order to help in catching the people responsible for the $300 purchase. After my father bought the cards, the scammers told him that he needs to read to them the play card codes. Fortunately, I and my wife were able to stop my father from reading them the rest of the play card codes. We asked the scammers to give me and my wife their business information but they hung up on us. We reported this matter to the police and to Google Play. Let’s help stop these scammers from victimizing the vulnerable seniors!
