First, it was an automated message stating my debit card will be charged $399.99 for security services on my computer. Then it states to call 507-295-6915 if I want to cancel or press 1 to speak with a customer rep. I pressed “1”, because I did not sign up for this service. The customer representative asked if he could help me. I asked him what company he was from, he said,”windows”. I do not have a windows computer or use windows applications. I asked him to cancel the service. He said he needs me to turn on my computer.I told him I am not near my computer. He said I can turn it on for you. My phone is connected to my computer so I hung up the phone. I immediately turned off my phone and went home to check my computer. My computer was off. I have turned all my credit cards off. I don’t think he got any information. Wanted to report to protect people in the future.

Website claims to be windows and says your computer is on lock down. Then it provides a number, when on the phone they will get you to say your personal information and then use that to steal your identity. The only thing that saved me was looking at the site address and seeing that it wasn’t secure and wasn’t under the Microsoft organization.

I was surfing the web late December 28, 2018. My computer screen froze and started sounding an alarm. A Microsoft pop-up box appeared warning not to shut my computer down. The Microsoft pop-up directed me to an 800 number I should call to fix the problem . I called the number and was told that my computer was infested with viruses and malware and that approximately 30 people were accessing my computer at that moment. I was told for a small fee they/Microsoft could take over my computer and clean it. I was quoted $ 450 for the repair and the installation of a year’s worth of protection software. Only after they “fixed” my computer was I told that it was $450 for the clean up that they had completed, and there would be an additional $499 charged to my card for one year of monthly monitoring. I fell for it too and and have been fighting for two months for a refund.

As soon as I saw the charges on my card, I disputed both. Unfortunately my bank let the charges go through anyway. I also filed a police report and received a case number.

I have an email into Secure Web Land which explains that my bank and I will call them on conference tomorrow. One of the many phone numbers they have called me from is 1-844-816-6753. If I do not have my credit by the end of tomorrow, I will proceed with the police and Bank of America investigation.

I AGREE WITH THE VICTIM REPORT ABOVE. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS . IMMEDIATELY UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER AND TAKE IT TO GEEK SQUAD AT BEST BUY. THEY SAVED MY COMPUTER AND MY DATA, BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE HACKERS GOT OFF OF MY COMPUTER, SO I AM DILIGENTLY AND METHODICALLY CHECKING ALL BANK ACCOUNTS AND INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS.

I received a email telling me that I owed $5999 for renewal of Windows licience. I had discontinued my internet service in March 2019. I thought I had stoped all business and t ech support associated with my computer. I did have Windows but had stopped service with Microsoft. At least I thought I had. I called the number provided and they convinced me that it was a separate department.. To stop services they required $15,000. I had to take money from my 401K to provide the money. I sent the check to Platform Solutions Management LLC. 6606 Blue Hollow Lane. Dickerson Texas 77539. After mailing the check I called Windows and they informed me that they never send emails for billing but let the contract runout. If it was on automatic renewal they would take it out of the account without communication. If I wanted to stop all I had to do was tell so. Names of people I talked to JOHN FREDRICK AND JOHN PARKER. Phone numbers they used 1-770-847-8696. 1-866-978-5352 1-646-809-0470 1-385-988-2529 I have put a stop payment on the check and changed my account number

Not sure but I think I fell victim to the "Yes" scam. I didn’t catch on quick enough when a spammer called and asked if I could hear him as I was in a rush and just picked up the phone. I don’t usually answer unknown numbers but am working with a client in Minnesota and the area code was familiar. His name was "George" asked if I could hear him, and said he was calling about my Windows computer. I told him to remove my number (I am on DNC) and then hung up and blocked the number from future calls. Not sure if they were legit or trying to scam money or what, I didn’t give him time to go into any details.

Now I am concerned they will use my "recording" of saying yes for something so I am filing this immediately after the call. It was place to me today, November 15, 2018 at 5:20pm Mountain Time zone.

I was called my a foreign person claiming to be with Microsoft stating that my microsoft service is 60% lost and to go online and put in their info to have them attach to my computer so they can fix it. I knew it was a scam immediately and asked what Country and State he was calling from. He said the USA and California. I then asked for his phone number and he gave it to me in the most unAmerican way ever. 810-2200-647. I told him I knew he was a scammer and he said he wasn’t and that only he and I were the ones with the code to see what wasn’t working. I asked him specifically about Microsoft and to list off programs that they have and he couldn’t even do that. I also asked him what the name of my company was that he was calling and he did not know. He then tried to say that I was located in Denver, CO when in reality I am in Colorado Springs. So I hung up.

About 4 or so months ago upon opening my laptop i got a popup message saying a virus of sorts was found and i needed to click for windows support to take care of it. If i ignore this then my laptops/computers will be disabled. This virus isa threat to Windows tech system.

Immediately my gut told me this is a scam. A similar popup has appeared 3 times in past year on my phone. I ignored popupon both, ran my virus checker and more. All came up negative nothing found.

Last week twice a message was left to call 1 888 435-3444 that my laptops HAVE been disabled. Then my phone gave me the option to forward this message. I tried forwarding it because i wanted to investigate the number because they never identified who they were. Trying to forward to my cell I got a message saying their system didn’t recognize this number.

I figure this is a scam. Everyone i do business with has my cell.

I called the number and got the message the number I’m calling has been disconnected or no longer in service. That was 1 hr ago and it is 7:42pm

I heard about the scam where scammers call to get people to say "yes," then make charges or open accounts because they have the voice recording that can be used as a verbal authorization.

My daughter answered my phone while I was in the bathroom, then she just handed it to me and I said, "hello." The man called me by my name, he said, Ms … And I said, "yes" and he immediately hung up. I tried to call the number back and it says, the wireless customer you are calling is not available. They never called back after that. My daughter said the man said he was from "Windows." I did not call Windows or do not need anything from Windows. Anyway, I thought it to be strange to hang up after I said "yes." The number the man called from is 888-987-4561. I told him I wouldn’t and it was rude to scam people and he hung up on me.

He was very insistent that I needed his help. He would not let it go, and never used my name. There is no way he would have known what computer I had if he didn’t know my name. Call from Windows wanting me to give strange man on phone access my computer.

When I called number back I was contacted on per my cell phone caller ID. It answers as a "Verizion Customer". And the Verizion number is not accepting calls at this time. I tried to contact Verizion Wireless to advice that this non sense Spam is going on in their phone line. Verizon classifies this as "telemarketing". But I am on the no call list. Why can we not start a Class Action Lawsuit against Verizion for providing the Avenue for these phishers to conduct their illegal activities and defraud the public. Verizion is profiting from the phishers use of their phone lines and knows what is happening they have been advised that this is happening but continue to let it go on because they receive a fee from crooks to use their phone lines. Verizion needs to be held accountable as well for not stopping this crime and Knowingly aiding and abetting .

Someone by the name of Roger Williams called from 805 438 2110 claiming that he was from Windows and that my computer had been hacked into. He asked for my password and login so that he could run a scan on my computer. Red flag number one, how did you get my cell phone#. Red Flag number two, why would you ask for my login and password. I did not provide any information but I know someone who did. Prayerfully, he was able to cancel credit and debit cards in time.

I have received multiple calls on my personal phone from 647-556-7323 and 231-225 (only this 6 digit number on some). These are electronic calls because it takes a while for caller to respond when I answer. The first caller said she was calling from "windows" and she has information that someone is trying to hack into my computer. Knowing it was a scam I asked what to do. She wanted me to boot up my computer so she could identify the hacker. I answered a later call when the Canada number appeared. He again said he was from windows and wanted to know if I was the owner of the computer. I did not answer any questions and hung up. These callers are persistent and are probably using other phone numbers.

Consumer received a call from someone claiming to be with Windows. The caller told the consumer her computer had been hacked and gave her an ID number saying that only 2 people in the world had access to that number; the consumer and windows. The consumer realized this was a scam and did not continue the call.

Total money lost $199

Type of a scam Tech Support

Received phone call at approximately 930am this date. Male on other end (from India name *** *** very hard to understand) claiming to be from Refund Department of Windows. Phone number calling from ***. He told me that a company from India caught the person that was hacking my computer and that I would be receiving a $1500 dollar refund of which I would have to send a money gram for $300 to the company in India. He wanted me to leave my checking account open so the money could be transferred in 24 hours. I tried to call the phone number back and got a recording for Magic Jack. When I suggested I would be checking his company out with BBB, he got very nervous and said he can’t waste any more time on me, that he had many others to call. I had problems with my computer and did pay $199 to have it fixed. This sounds like the same person I talked to a few days ago. I believe I have been had. They called me.

A call comes from "Windows", stating that your computer is about to crash. To prove this, they give you a series of letters to type into your computer. This gives them access to your computer. They show you some programs that they say are not operating; then instruct you on how to download a remedy. After a point, they ask for your credit card number, because this remedy cost almost $200.00. When I declined to give my credit card info, they became belligerent, threatening that my computer was going to crash within the next few minutes. And, just to be spiteful, they changed my password before logging back out of my computer, so I had to take it to Best Buy to reset. Phone number they called from: 985-606-0307. Caller ID lists "Amanda Garvin" as the caller. IP address: 173.224.123.242, and it corresponds to "ammyy admin". Other IP addresses: 88.198.6.54 and 55. I know now that windows does not call people – but they are very convincing!

6/22/2015 – In S. Maine….Received call at 5 p.m. this evening. I have no caller ID so I don’t know the number the call came from. The gentleman has a heavy accent that sounds like it might be *** or *** ***. He states that he is calling from ***. I have been receiving these calls for several weeks now. He calls like clockwork at 5pm. This time I told him not to call back and hung up on him again. I knew the minute I heard *** it was a scam as *** is the program and a program wouldn’t be calling me.

Scammer call from 315-370-7992 caller id = VICTOR THOMAS

MAY 18, 2015 – 2:26 pm: thickly accented male voice claiming to work for "windows support" said my computer was infected with a virus, wanted me to enter "www.win32.us" in the RUN function under START (key at lower left of windows screen).

I googled instead and found an entry from ScamPulse.com GA/AL from 2013

This was an apparent attempt to steal private info if the old notice from ScamPulse.com is correct.

Claimed to be from Windows; that my computer was putting out errors and was about to crash. For me to go to my computer and he would talk me through finding the CLS ID # on my computer….Computer License ID. I refused; said I needed to verify if not a scam and asked for a number to call him back. Gave me his name as Aaron Smith at 657-888-7283.

Was insisting, wanted to know if I knew how to find the CLS #. He started giving me instructions which I told him I was writing down, I was not going to do it in the computer until I knew he was legit. In doing that, he mentioned a "send" command, at which point I told him I was not going any further. I would check it out and call him back. At this point he became more irritated and told me I was wasting his time at which I hung up. The number that came up in my caller Id was 404-2015 unknown name…..I do not usually answer #’s I don’t recognize, but I was in a hurry and my ID is hard to see so I picked it up. He was very convincing. He did speak with a foreign accent. Kept saying how important it was to take care of this right now before my computer crashed. Later, I found out from my husband, a friend of his has received this type call several times.
