Type of a scam Tech Support
My father was setting us his Roku device. Set up was going great until it froze up on him, and he received a message to call this nubmer for support. When he called, the guy told him he was with Roku support. He told him he had to pay a fee of $150.00 for lifetime support. He hooked his up to someone else’s Hulu account. After I told my dad Roku was free, he called back. The same guy answered with a different name. This went on and on. The guy told him he would refund the money, but he did not. We have filed a fraud claim with American Express. My biggest concern is HOW this guy is hacking Roku accounts before they are even set up. According to the BBB, this same thing has happend to a number of people. How is he accessing other people’s Hulu accounts and Is he now passing on my dad’s account info to other innocent Roku customers? What is Roku doing to shut this down?
