Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Last week I received an email from Job Placement and Student Service at my school (UNT DENTON). The email stated that there was a job that was recruiting, looking for people who wanted a part time job. They said how they had tried it and made $300 and that you could make up to $300 a week. They included the website URL in the email, worthingsurveyservices.com and told up to apply. I figured since it was from my school it wouldn’t be a scam. I went on the website and filled out an application and a few days later I was contacted via email and text from Jerome Harris, that they would be mailing information to my house. I received details in the mail on Tuesday (OCT 1). The detail told me I would be a secret survey shopper for Best Buy and I also received a check for $1700. I was told to deposit the check and to buy Best Buy gift cards with it. They said if I did the survey within 48 hours of receiving it, I would make $300, if I waited longer than that I would make $200. They told me to take a picture of the cards and the filled-out survey and text it to them. I called my school and they had no recollection of this company or woman named Cierra Black who originally sent me the email.

Last week I received an email from Job Placement and Student Service at my school (WCTC). I received details in the mail on Tuesday (Sept. 3). The detail told me I would be a secret survey shopper for Best Buy and I also received a check for $1700. I was told to deposit the check and to buy Best Buy gift cards with it. They said if I did the survey within 48 hours of receiving it, I would make $300, if I waited longer than that I would make $200. I went to Best Buy on Wednesday (Sept. 4) and bought the $1400 worth of gift cards like they said. They then told me to take a picture of the cards and the filled-out survey and text it to them. I did this and was told that they would be sending out my next assignment. I looked at my bank account today and saw the check was refunded the $1700, due to it being a fake.
