Type of a scam Tech Support

While using the main home computer as usual, reading news articles and streaming internet radio, scammers tried to access our computer. An error message popped up and then the internet radio stopped. Then a screen popped up showing the name Time Warner Cable and that company’s logo. The text on the screen said, "Time Warner Cable Customer: Our system scans have detected serious malware originating from your computer. Contact our certified technicians IMMEDIATELY for assistance and removal. If left unresolved, you may be subject to PERMANENT ACCOUNT SUSPENSION as well as possible FINES FOR NETWORK DAMAGE. 888-726-5221. A recorded message played repeatedly in a woman’s voice, instructing us to immediately call the tech support. We knew this is a scam. We know they want us to call so we will give them remote access to our computer and steal our personal info. We did not click on anything. We hit "Control Alt Delete" and ended the task through Task Manager and ran a virus scan.
