Type of a scam Debt Collections
Received letter from Penn Credit stating that I own State of South Carolina $19,414 (no reason or background, no State seal, address or official document given) and that I was to give them credit card info to pay it off.
Haven’t been in South Carolina in years (over 10 years ago I lived there for 18 months), and certainly wouldn’t owe them or anyone else in South Carolina any money let alone $19,414.
When I called them at 800-900-1389, the number on the paperwork I told them I thought they were a scam and they were trying to scam money from me they said "have a nice day" and hung up.
They have North Carolina permit number 3779 on the paperwork. Whatever that means.
