I had two missed calls from a “Memphis, TN” number so I called it back. The man instantly knew my first and last name before I said a word. He said he was “Phoenix Finance” calling about my hospital bill (which I am well aware has a ZERO balance) but when I said that he told me I was wrong and he wanted to give me a discount on the bill. He continued he wanted to verify my date of birth (which he somehow knew and the last 4 of my social which he also knew) but I told him he had it wrong and that I would call the hospital myself. He said ok but that I would be calling him back. We hung up. I made my husband call the number back and the same man said my whole name again. Asked for verification of my date of birth and social which my husband also denied. My husband asked where their office was located and the man said “Indianapolis” which we knew he had a Memphis number. When my husband told the man he was going to report him to the police, “Phoenix Finance” hung up very quickly.
