"Alan" and "nick" called, claiming that my parents’ computer was compromised, and eventually got them to write a check for $400. They tricked them into installing a back door to their computer, and presumably intended to use this to obtain private information. Later, once blocked, they called to leave a message stating they wanted to refund some money. The next call was a threat to charge money if my parents did not respond.
