Type of a scam Phishing

While working with a Google web page that my physics students use I replied to a pop up online survey that promised a free gift for answering the a survey. I made the incorrect assumption the survey was from the company offering the physics problems. When I choose a watch and agreed to pay about $6.00 for shipping, without my knowledge I was signed to a service that sends a watch a month. I did not read all the terms and conditions, but then who does? Today a $97 charge appeared on my credit card. My wife and I made three calls to have the charge removed and we were told that because I checked the tab agreeing to the conditions, nothing could be done.

I know I was stupid. But at no time was any mention made of any subscription or any future payments. To make things worse, the "free" watch we received was not the one I requested.
