I am the Office Manager for a company in Springfield, Ohio. On Monday, 8-7-17 I received a call from a man claiming to be an employee from Ohio Edison. Said he had a disconnection of service from Ohio Edison for the business and would be here within an hour to shut service off. I told him bills were current. He told me to call 1-877-741-9575 which is a direct number to billing and they would help me with payment. Said his ID #4427 and his name was Louis. I got the electric bills out to check. We have 3 accounts….I had paid the bills 8-1-17–none had a past due balance. I called the number on the Ohio Edison bill to see what I could find out. I was told it is a scam and to ignore–our accounts were fine. I did call the number that Louis gave me. The guy told me we were 3 months past due on the bill. I told him I had the bills in front of me–none were past due and I had spoken directly with Ohio Edison and our accounts were fine. He hung up. I did give all this information to Ohio Edison as well.
