Steven J Vande is the CEO of this scam company. Just received an invoice for TV Guide for my mother, who has been dead for 10 years. She would have been 91. So they are knowingly trying to scam elders.

I received a invoice from Pacific Magazine Billing for a 2 year renewal for Southern Living Magazine. I paid in 2 installments. I just received another invoice and called the company to inquire why. I was told to flip the invoice over and read the back which states that the invoice is really not an an invoice. Who cashed my checks? I called Southern Living who had no knowledge of this company. Why isn’t the Better Business Bureau shutting this scam down!

Tonya – Apr 13, 2020

Just sent me a notice for Southern Living. $90 for 26 issues. I just renewed a four 1 year (13 issues) for $5 through Amazon. They are trying to scam people. And if you aren’t savvy enough to look and see who you paid when, they will get you. If you get a bill from them it is NOT genuine. Do not pay it!

Frank – Apr 13, 2020

Was sent a bill for People Magazine. Paid the bill for $179.95. Later People Magazine took $126.54 out of my account for auto pay. Now I’m out the $179.95 NOT Happy husband called People and of course nothing can be done. Someone needs to stop
this! Can’t really afford the extra moneys out!

I have subscribed to Southern Living magazine for years. Pacific Magazine Billing sent me a special 2-yr offer to renew. I was billed for the first year in January 2020 and sent a check for $27.48. In early March I rec’d a second bill for $27.47 which would be for the second year. I have not been able to get an answer at the phone no. supplied above. I called Southern Living MAGAZINE and I still have an active subscription with them and they were going to send me a renewal letter this spring. They had no record of this renewal I already paid for as described above.

I am reading online of others who have scammed by PACIFIC MAGAZINE BILLING…….and would like to get my money back for year one and I will subscribe directly with SOUTHERN LIVING. PLEASE ADVISE.

My 82 year old mother has been getting invoices requesting payment for People magazine. Since she does receive People magazine, she would just right a check and mail it in. I have recently started taking over her finances to find that she has paid over $800.00 for People magazine in the last two years. The invoices have multiple accounts under her name. This is so sad how they pray on the elderly. Any advice on how to get her money back?

Received an "invoice" for $179.95 from them for a subscription to People Magazine. We already subscribe to People and had renewed for one year last September at a cost of $94. Since most people don’t remember the exact date they subscribed, they’re trying to get us to subscribe from them at a higher price. Disgraceful!

A subscription bill format for 1 yr 50 issues of People magazine for $179.95, with an installment payment of $89.95. Besides never subscribing to the magazine, the amount for the subscription is way over actual costs. In red print says it is an offer from independent company not a bill, but does say to retain one portion and has stub to "return with your payment". However, it is designed to appear as billing from Pacific Magazine and monies are due and "Thank You. You prompt attention is appreciated" in red, as is Make Check Pyable. Fake invoice.

Do NOT give Pacific Magazine Billing any of your money! They sent me a notice for 6 free issues of *** magazine and then I could either order a subscription or cancel at any time after the 6 free issues arrived. I decided to order a subscription and paid for it in two installments: $54.98 and $44.00, which I might add are strange dollar amounts. This should have taken care of the subscription, however, I just received another bill for $54.97, which is a complete SCAM and will not pay. I called *** Magazine directly and they said they never heard of this company and are certainly not affiliated with them. Words of caution: their bills do not include a physical address (only PO Box), phone number, website address or even an email address. They are a complete scammer and I would run the other way if you receive mail from them.

PMB sends an offer to a *** magazine subscription I already had and was going to expire. I sent payment of$139.95 and then directly billed via my credit card by ***. When I called ***, they said they weren’t affiliated with PMB and have no record of a double payment. Their advice was the call the bank and file a complaint. The phone for PMB doesn’t work and after searching their name on line, I found many of the same exact complaints. This company should be shut down.

My mother subscribes to several magazines. I handle her bills for her. I was billed by this company for Southern Living. And I paid them a total of 59.95. When Southern Living also billed me, I contacted them and they said they were not affiliated with this company and that they have had other complaints. They recommended that I report them to BBB.

There is no website, and I will not call them because I do not want them to have my phone number.

I have begun to receive other invoices for magazines that I did not order. Of course, I’m not going to be stupid twice…

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I received an invoice from Pacific Magazine LP for a renewal for People Magazine in December 2017. On 12/8/2017 I sent a check made out to Pacific Magazine LP in the amount of $179.95. The check was cashed by Pacific Magazine Billing LP, (Company’s Account #***, Bank of Southern California [Bank # ***]) in December. I have a copy of the front and back of the check but cannot read the date it was cashed.

I do not want to send a picture of my check with the payment information.

I received a mailed "invoice" for my People magazine subscription from this company. They were offering me one year of People magazine for $179.95, which is a LOT more than I’ve paid for a year of People in the past. I’ve never received anything from this company before, that I remember. I Googled this company… lo & behold, the BBB shows numerous complaints filed against them and bad reviews. They are not affiliated with People, or any other magazine. Don’t use this company!

They sent a "Notice of Continuation/New Order Offer" for the magazine "Science News", to which I already subscribe. I checked with the Science News website, and they have absolutely nothing to do with PMB, and warn their subscribers of that fact. In easy-to-overlook print, the PMB slip says that it is not a bill, but this easily could be overlooked by busy people. A pdf of the "Notice" is attached.

Thank you for your efforts.

This "bill" comes in the mail and is made to look like your are delinquent in the payment for the magazine. The price for the Magazine is inflated – example – McCall’s Quilting 1 year for $69.95 and you can pay in two installments. It also states that "Make Check Payable to: Pacific Magazine Billing, LLC – I get these bills frequently and have tossed them out as junk mail but it is not getting a little frustrating and I am concerned that some older folks that like to quilt might fall for this scam.

It does say that this is an offer from an independent agent – Not a bill, but it way at the bottom of the document.

We have received mailings from this company that appear to be a bill for "People" and "Birds and Blooms" magazines. The fake bill asks for our prompt attention and to make a check payable to PMC. It is only at the bottom of the "bill" that it describes itself as an independent agents offer and not a bill!

We believe this format for advertising is very deceptive and needs to be stopped immediately.

Thank-you* *** ***

I received a notice of renewal/new order from this company for the Reader’s Digest for 3 years for $99.95. I just renewed my subscription to the Reader’s Digest 2 months ago for a lot less than $99.95. I never heard of this company. I deal directly with Reader’s Digest. However, it did make me think twice until I checked my records.

Fake invoice / Deceptive business practice.

Received via postal mail a 1/3-sheet "NOTICE OF RENEWAL/ NEW ORDER" instructing recipient to "Return with your payment", "Please respond by xxx", "Your Prompt Attention is Appreciated" and so on, with dollar amounts requested, the "notice" clearly resembling in content, format, and style a standard publisher’s invoice for a magazine to which I have in the past subscribed, but for an oddly high price of $59.95 instead of the usual range of $11.00 to $34.00 or so. Inspecting the notice more fully, in inconspicuous and small type on the front side, one finds "PLEASE KEEP THIS PORTION IF RESPONDING TO THIS INDEPENDENT AGENTS [sic] OFFER NOT A BILL", and on the back under the boldface heading "Term [sic] and Conditions" there is actually a truthful disclosure that this notice "is just an offer and not a bill or invoice", and so on, which is phrased politely enough and obviously included to avert legal action, but when one reads the entirety of the form, it becomes apparent that the intent of the mailing is deceptive: this company charges a $9.00 "processing fee. . . plus our costs to submit your order" for the service of "managing all of your magazine subscriptions". In other words, Pacific Magazine Billing is attempting via deceptive packaging to insert itself as an utterly superfluous middleman who for a large fee simply forwards the subscriber’s payment to the publisher, effectively making money by doing nothing but increasing the USPS’s ordinary workload.

I (and apparently others) have received ‘invoices’ from this company. It is always for a magazine that you either currently subscribe to OR have in the recent past. You are fooled into paying the ‘first installment’ and then you get another ‘invoice’ for another ‘installment’— prices FAR exceed normal market prices and I am not sure they even actually send the product. I paid $29.98 and never received a refund, apology, etc. This is a farce. I am not usually so gullible. And by the way PACIFIC MAGAZINE BILLING—- I AM ON THE NATIONAL DO NOT MAIL LIST FOR ALL MAGAZINE OFFERS SO YOU ARE OFFICIALLY BREAKING THE LAW BY SENDING ME YOUR STUPID OFFERS.
