Had my car listed on craigslist. Received text from “prospective buyer” saying he was interested in seeing my car but he needed me to send him the *** car report. I stupidly fell for the scam, purchased the report on *** website, sent *** the report and never heard back. After researching scams online, I found similar stories.

We are selling a car.
We got a text message saying they would buy the vehicle if we purchased a report from NationalVehicleReport.com.
Several text messages & responses I received on the “web chat” made me uncomfortable. I don’t know if they were just trying to con me to but the report, or steal my credit card info once I placed it on their site. But I definitely know something was fishy.

Posted car on Craigslist, a seemingly interests buyer eventually insists on a vin report check from "nationalvehiclereport.com"
I finally give in, and the $25 charge to my card is from a PayPal account (not a legit business)

I listed a vehicle for sale on craigslist. Steve texted me and said he was an hour away and wanted to come look at it tomorrow but wanted the vehicle history report from nationalvehiclereport.com. I paid the $25.00 via paypal for the report thinking it would be good to show others anyways, but then he asked me to email the report to [email protected] and something gave me a weird feeling. I googled the email address and found multiple complaint that this same person is trying to just get people to buy the report. I texted him back a screen shot of the complaints and shamed him. No response. Guess I’m out the $25.00 and who knows if the report is even legit.
