Type of a scam Employment

I received an email from someone on facebook who I do know about a job she has been doing for the past 12 months (came to find out she was hacked and the email was false). She offered it to me and said to use her name as a reference. As a shopper for a research company, I would report on the service I received, my impression, location, etc. I only filled out a submission form with my name, address and email address and thought it odd that I did not have to fill out an application. In the mail I received instructions to go to post offices in my area and obtain 5 money orders after I deposited a check in the amount of $2,995 in my account, which I did not do. Red flags went up right away when the instructions said United State Postal Service; the check came from a credit union in Sacramento CA with the wrong zip and wrong street address. One phone number in the instructions was area code 616-426-9320 (Minnesota), another 205-649-1549 (Alabama). There are no contact people, no other address to return the check to. I contacted my friend who supposedly initiated this "job" and said it was a scam and she did not send it, that her linked in account was hacked. The email address of the instruction sheet was [email protected] – no website or domain exists for this email.
