Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I’m currently trying to rent a room in my house through craiglist. Got a response from a women, who claimed that she was 24 and just graduated from University of Manitoba. That she was going finish her ed. here. And Daddy didn’t want her work, during a 2 yr period. So a car was being purchased as well.
The room is 550$, a check was sent through UPS. The amount was 2875$. I was to take out the rooms portion after depositing. Then I would receive info on how to get the rest to dealership.
Took check to bank, it’s manager recognizes it as scam. I called bank it was issued from. I was told that it was a closed account. I had checked everything else before that and it had come up legit.
