Type of a scam Online Purchase
I was on eBay looking for a used car to buy. I found a 2009 Nissan listed by Stacy McGee for $1,500. After exchanging a few emails, getting some pictures, and letting him know I was interested, I asked when a good time for him to meet with me would be. Mr. Stacy McGee responded saying we will Not be able to meet, that he’s currently on a base in Nebraska & is getting ready to be flown to Alaska where he will be stationed for the next 3 years. Moving is the reason he’s selling the car below the listed market value & for so cheap. It also has to be sold before he leaves the states on October 30th. The money he gets from selling the car will help him be able to pay for somewhere to live while he’s in Alaska (I’m guessing that he doesn’t know too much about being in the service and their living arrangements). So he told me to include my name, my home address, & email address in my next reply email if I was seriously interested in the car(this was weird to me because we’d already communicated several times by only emailing each other and I had given him my name). Anyway he needed the info so ebay could deliver the crated car from his Nebraska base to me. The kicker is that he’s a member of the eBay Buyer Protection Program, so once I receive the car at my house, I will have the luxury of getting to keep his car for 5 whole days so that I can test drive it and I suppose do whatever else I want. This gives me the chance to decide if I want to keep it or not. And during these 5 days of me having his car he supposedly will Not have received any kind of payment for it yet. (So I will have his car to drive for 5 days and he will not have been paid any money yet, and I am somebody he doesn’t know, um yeah right!!!) So needless to say this is Nothing but a SCAM that i had the unfortunate opportunity to run across and get to waste my valuable time emailing with when I could’ve been talking to someone who is serious about selling a real car instead of wasting a person time or trying to screw them out of their hard earned money. It’s a shame that there a people out there that would actually do something like this to another human being. Glad i caught on before it was too late.
