Type of a scam Phishing

The scammer sounded to be a female with an accent. She called and stated she was with schools.com asked for my name and date of birth, my school history, then asked me if I consented to Salem University contacting me. I stated "I consent to Salem University contacting me" and she said the business required me to state "Yes". I asked why this was and she had no real explanation. I’d applied for schools to contact me on the scammers website.. so being stupid and thinking this was legit I finally agreed to say yes. She then stated shed call the school. Noone returned to the line, then they hung up. I call back and they hang up. [censored].
