Two people came to my door Sunday, April 17, 2016. They stated their organization was called "Something For Soldiers" collecting money for care package for soldiers who did not have family or loved ones to support them with overseas. I wrote them a check for $40 (they had a check list of amounts you could give, this was the lowest suggested) and they gave me a receipt slip (see attached). The slip said they were not a 501c organization. I had a bad feeling after they left, so I then got online and saw they had been in other states scamming others. At this point I called the police. Police came took a report, stated they had been in other areas of Omaha yesterday. Police attempted to find them, but were unable to at this time. I also called my bank, cancelled the check and closed my bank account.
