I received a phone message (no caller ID) from a lady who stated she was from the Shelby County Compliance Office and that I had a claim against me. She provided a claim number and a phone number to call and speak to the person making the claim. I called the number provided (which was outside my area code) and the man who answered stated the business was called Swartz & Goldstein. He stated one of the attorneys in the claims processing practice was representing a company that had a claim against me; however, he would divulge specifically what the claim was about. He stated he would need to verify my information so I could be directed to the correct person. I gave him the claim number left on my voicemail and he asked me to verify my address & last 4 digits of my social security number (which he already had)- I refused to confirm anything until he told me what the claim was about. He said he couldn’t help me and hung up. Since I don’t have any debts, or pending court cases, nor have I been involved in an accident, I called the Shelby County Sheriff’s Dept and they confirmed they had no knowledge of any claims or warrants against me.
