Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received an unsolicited email saying I was approved as a Kroger secret shopper. The email spelled out what my duties would be. I was supposed to confirm in writing that I was ready to start. The next day I received a text confirming that they had sent a package with instructions for my first assignment. The email and text were signed by "Mark Henderson, Director (Human Resources & STAFFING), Kroger Secret Shopper. I also received a USPS Priority Mail envelope that contained a letter with instructions and a check for $2400. The USPS envelope was from CL Associates in Conyers GA. The check was a cashier’s check from University Federal Credit Union in Austin, TX. The letter was signed by Paul Thomas in Savannah, GA. It instructed me to spend $50 at Kroger and then evaluate my experience and take $300 as my pay. I was then to split the remainder of the funds and send two MoneyGrams from Walmart for $1000 each to Brandon Green in Atlanta, GA and Nathan Johnson in Stone Mountain, GA.
