Emily (Recorded voice) from the Student Loan Assistance Center calls several times a day stating that their records show that I have a student loan and they can help me get relief from the payments. The calls are coming from a number with the same area code and same first 3 digits of my own phone number. Each time I block the number they call from but they call right back from another number. The last time I stayed on the phone and talked to someone who sounded like a female US citizen and when I asked about the company she wouldn’t give me any details besides the name being "The Student Loan Assistance Center". She kept trying to get information about me. When I said I wanted to google them and started to do that she then hung up on me. This is 100% a scam! She was trying to harvest my PII.

This company (student loan assistance center) is stealing phone numbers and robo dialing phone numbers to include those on the do not call list.

There is an automated system that takes you through questions and then once you answer correctly they place you in contact with a "counselor" to assist you with your finances.

I was able to get that the "company" is the student loan assistance center which is not a business or is a closed business as per the BBB. The "counselor" would not give me a name or contact information and hung up as with other reviews/complaints on this "company".

Phone numbers used which are legitimate numbers and/or disconnected numbers from call backs in the last 9 days alone are 406 256 1474, 406 782 1252, 406 885 2903, 406 953 6442, 406 807 9454, 406 883 6587, 406 641 8198, 406 407 6935, 406 407 7481, 406 407 1258, 406 407 7338, 406 407 6908, 406 407 7541, 406 486 6194, 406 407 8350, 406 407 7908.

When calling any of these stolen numbers back you get the rightful owners or a this number is no longer in service and has been changed or disconnected message.

Those numbers are only in 9 days and they call repeat times up to 3 times.

Some people would probably be scammed by this but I am an almost 50 year old military retiree without student loans but the message says that my student loans can be paid off with a government program for paying loans. I am getting 3 to 8 phone calls a day from this scam when I have never attended college.

If you get a person on and you address the scam they hang up.

I have never paid anything or given any personal information to any caller as I know this is a scam.

If I would have gone through with their proposed scam I would most likely have been asked for personal information and suffered losses.

This complaint is simply a warning tool that will hopefully assist others in recognizing this scam so that they do not fall for it and suffer damages.

The caller identified as "The Student Loan Assistance Center" and offered to help me file for student loan forgiveness with the US Department of Education. When I requested details on the organization, website, etc., she said they had an A rating with the BBB, and could not give me a web address but said it would be in the first one or two Google results. While I tried to find it and mentioned I had found a BBB link to follow, she hung up on me.

Constant harassment via telephone seeking individuals with student loans (which I do not have)- when you speak to a live person, they hang up as soon as you ask them where they are located or how they got your information. I have received 12 calls in one day. And their website says they are ScamPulse.com accredited.

Text me that my student loans are pretty qualified for loan forgiveness. She wanted my social and other personal info. Got mad at me when I explained how would they know etc. I explain the difference between loan forgiveness and repayment and said how would you know if my loans could be automatically forgiven and she said I was free qualified so I held her to that and said okay let’s do this let’s forgive my loan since that’s what you’re saying but then she went into wanting to know my information so she can see if I can be put in repayment and I said no you said loan forgiveness not repayment which is different and I held her accountable the saying that the my loans were qualified for loan forgiveness she would not tell me the name of her company at first and then changed it to student loan assistance center and then they tell me when I looked it up online that the other company is the one that was shut down not her with the same name and then told me a different name and I asked if she could understand my confusion in my concern because she keeps changing the name of her company then she told me the name of her city was a county and I can phone that and she says well as a city in the county and I asked her what the city was and she was reluctant to give it to me then and then said I was hostile when she was the one being hostile and rude with me as I was patient and wanted to see if they could actually do something with that like this for me. I start to record the conversation and told her I was recording her at that point and ask a few more questions and she said she did not have my permission her permission to record. I told her I had my permission and she hung up on me. 4172249390
