Type of a scam Other
I had an encounter today with a very sketchy Locksmith company. I locked my keys in my car and called this company to help me out. The guy on the phone told me $20 for the house call and $20 to open my old crappy 2002 Saturn. When the guy arrived he took one glance at my car and told me it would cost $135. I refused to pay that amount. He made a phone call and came back and offered to do it for $75, under the table under the company. I still refused. He shouted profanities at me and drove off.
I read this: http://www.bbb.org/blog/2011/08/locksmith-scam-180-for-five-minutes/ and thought it might be good to report these guys.
I also want to say that I had a friend help me out and open up my door with a wire hangar. It took him about 15 minutes. I think that emphasizes how much they were trying to overcharge someone in a tight spot. Seems like a scam to me.
