I applied for a loan online. A man called me back. He had an Asian accent. He said he worked for a division of Sun Trust Bank. He wanted to direct deposit $400 into my bank account. He asked for my account number and routing number. He also asked for my passwords. He wanted me to send it back to them to verify the account. I declined.

Type of a scam Identity Theft
Received several emails at 1:00am this morning from Sun Trust Bank thanking me for setting up my new checking and savings account. When I called the 1-800 number to report the fraud, I was requested my full social security number right away. I was told by a representative from the Phillipines that I would have to go to a local branch and speak with someone. There is not a local branch in my state or within several hundred miles of my residence. I can’t seem to get anyone to respond from Sun Trust and no options given by the company to help with this fraud situation.
