Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
My husband and I listed a stove on Craigslist and we were contacted via text by Murna Walters (510-277-4450) that she was interested in the stove. Murna and my husband agreed on $200. Murna stated that A&B Movers would pick the stove up at a later date to be determined. My husband agreed and gave her our address for the Cashers Check. We became weary when Murna stated that once we cash the check we would need to pay the movers. We determined that it was scam and told Murna that we no longer wanted to do business. Today, 6/4/18 we received a Cashers Check for $1950.50 from AMOCO Federal Credit Union, Texas City, Texas. It looks counterfeit and will be handing it over to the bank. In addition, the USPS envelope address sticker also looks fake. Murna contacted us today about the check, we told her that the stove has been sold. We hope that the information provided can help in anyway.
