Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I complete surveys in my e-mail quite frequently and I had an e-mail to take a survey to become a mystery shopper. I completed the survey and it emailed me back about 2 days later saying I have been accepted for the assignment and to please provide my address to be sent the assignment details. Yesterday when I received the details it included paperwork and a "check" to go to a retail store and purchase gift cards after depositing the check into my account. It told me to purchase ITunes gift cards and to send pictures of the cards to the e-mail which they provided me. I did not deposit the check or complete instructions and immediately contacted Federal Trade Commission to report the scam. The "Head of Recruitment" was Warren Patterson who provided me with two separate gmail accounts. [email protected] and [email protected] A legitimate company will never ask you to purchase gift cards or money orders.
