I had someone interested in buying my washer and dryer on Offer Up. From the get go it was a little sketchy and the guy "buying" seemed a little too nice. He offered me more than what I was selling it for. When I gave him the address to my office, because I was not going to give him my home address until I had the money, he sent me a $2600 check and said that the extra money was for me to pay for the shipping fees when his movers come to pick it up. Within the UPS package that included the check there was a letter asking me to text a different number when I had received the check and deposited it into my account. I immediately called my local police department and reported the scam. They said to not deposit the check or they would have my bank account information. So I shredded the check and blocked all the numbers and contact that I had with this person.
