Type of a scam Online Purchase

Posted an ad on Craig’s List Monterey, California. Within an hour of me posting at 10pm I was texted by someone asking if I still have the car, I replied yes and went to bed. Woke up the next morning to this person asking if I could get a vehicle report from http://vehiclereporter.com/?bl=HiJ56Vc

I didn’t think much of it nor to check to see if it was a scam, figured it was no big deal, it was only asking $14.99, but when I viewed the report and saw no information about my car other than the VIN I put in and it saying it was "100% Clean and Safe" and I never receieved an email from them of the report I knew something wasn’t right.

I simply texted the person back, "Generally the reports are free, no?"

I am now going to place a fraud alert, just in case they want something other than the $14.99 and hope that my computer hasn’t been hacked.

ALWAYS CHECK FOR SCAMS BEFORE PUTTING ANY INFORMATION IN TO A SITE YOU’RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH.

Lesson learned.
