Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Today, I received a USPS package via Priority 2 day mail. There was a letter inside with specific instructions and a check for $2,850. I was to purchase Ebay gift cards at any store, in any denomination and buy $2,450 worth and keep $400 for me. Then I was to open the pack, peel the silver scratch-off area, capture images of the card (front and back), and email a shopper report regarding my shopping experience (along with the photos) to [email protected] The check was drawn against Amarillo Community Federal Credit Union. I was advised to deduct $400 as my payment. I tried to verify the routing number on the check and it was for the wrong bank. If they hadn’t asked for photos for gift cards, I might have fallen for this.
