Type of a scam Rental
A rental property was advertised on Craigslist. I emailed the "owner" directly to the email provided in the add. They responded with a makeshift rental application (including a request for a picture). I filled out the form and sent it back. Immediately they said I was approved and to send money for the security deposit, so they could send the paperwork and keys to me. I responded with several questions I had about the property and rental agreement. He stated that him and his wife had just left the area to go on a prolonged missions trip (he even provided a website of where he supposedly is serving). He repeatedly would not answer my questions. It was evident early on that this was a scam. He discontinued communicating with me once I told him I would not move forward with the process unless my questions were answered.
This property is listed on several different sites, at a different price. The price advertised on craigslist was significantly reduced in comparison.
