Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
We just closed on a house. Received official looking letter from this business asking me to pay $87 for a copy of the Deed. Made it look like a bill and lots of fine print, which when read indicated they were providing closing information based on public data. Given all the paper work, fees and new billers, this seemed to be a blatant attempt to extract money for something that I already have and can get a copy of anytime I want.

We changed the title on our home with a quit sale document. We did the transaction at the county offices. That was a legal document and completed the title change process.
Two weeks later we received an unsolicited letter from Records Recovery Services with the pertinent county records about our home and most importantly asking for $87.00 due by 7/19/2017 making check payable to them for "a property report with all the pertinent property" info for our deed title change. THIS IS A COMPLETE SCAM. YOU ALREADY HAVE THE PROPERTY INFO FROM THE DEED TITLE CHANGE WHICH YOU PAID FOR AT THE COUNTY OFFICES. THIS IS A SCAM. WE ARE ALSO CONTACTING THE OREGON STATE ATTORNEYS GENERAL IFFICE.

Received what looks like a bill for $87 from Records Recovery Services just after purchasing a home. The envelope sites U.S. Code SEC 18.1702 to look even more government official. I googled the address which is actually a UPS Store. This letter is very deceiving by not only trying to get a person to pay $87 but if a personal check is sent in then they will also have that persons bank account information. Don’t be fooled. Attached is an image of the envelope and return envelope that was sent to me.
