No reply email received from Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, stating an auto renewal invoice was successfully paid for $299. Customer service number was provided at  1-855-238-3385 and to call if this was not my order.

Call was made and spoke with a woman from customer service, who could not tell me anything about the charge or credit card it was supposed to have been billed to and that she was not equipped to cancel the charge. She kept trying to get me to go to another website in order to cancel. However, it became too suspicious and I hung up without completing the instructions.

I do not know whether there was an actual charge of $299 successfully paid as they claimed or if it was a ploy to get me go follow the cancellation instructions on a phony charge so my computer could be compromised. I have not checked with all my credit cards yet, but i did check with the main one that would have been used for such purchases as they claimed I made. No charge of $299 had been registered in recent activity against that Master card. I will check with other visa accounts.
