Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I was messaged on Instagram advising that since I’m such a loyal fan of (someone famous) I’d been chosen to receive financial assistance. I gave them my name and address (only) no other info though. No Social or Date of birth or bank information. I figured I’m moving in less than 30 days, so what difference does it make? They said I’d be receiving $500 in a few days. I received a check for almost $3k and was harassed with text messages instructing me to deposit into my bank and wait for further instructions. I didn’t do it. The text messages continued. Something about my being paired with someone who needs help also. I was told I’d be getting a check every 3 weeks and I’d get USED to it. I asked what that meant exactly and never got an answer.
