Type of a scam Phishing
I posted a car for sale on offerup and got a few responses, which I gave my number to 2 “serious buyers.“ One was legit and the other didn’t send a message until today. The person I gave my number was Hugo and the conversation started normal with how long I had the car, repairs and location. He immediately asked for a NAR report which I’ve never heard of and how he got my number. He never mentioned Hugo, “just a friend.” Then he lists nationalautoreports .com as the website. I asked him what was the difference between that and Carfax to which he replied it was more reliable. I recently watched some kitboga vids due to YouTube algorithms. and it reminded me that this was probably a scam. Hence, I checked out https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2018/10/steering-clear-vehicle-history-report-…⇄ to see if this was a legit website and sure enough, it’s not listed. I just politely told him that I’m apprehensive about the website, and the car will be sold as is without the report. He never responded back. It’s really unfortunate that honest people have to go through these stupid scams.
