Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Contact from potential employer via ziprecruiter.com about a great working opportunity. At first the contact person only communicated via text & repeatedly mentioned sending a UPS package with instructions inside. I only spoke with contact once who stated he will send contract for the position in the package he was sending. Once the package arrived there was a physical check and a copy of a check but no instructions inside. The contact consistently text me to deposit the check immediately and to go late that night to an ATM to deposit. The checks were take the following day to my bank for deposit and my bank later advised my pin had been changed & that the checks were fraudulent checks. I then called my contact Jeffrey who insisted the checks were good and to call bank back and honor the checks. The contact began to question why I used my alternate account and when I said he was a scam there were no further contacts made from or by Jeffrey.
