Type of a scam Employment
There were no transactions or anything yet but I just need to say how extremely sketchy this business interaction was. I was contacted by a woman Yen Than on LinkedIn to be a business development intern for her company – Just Entreprise – that she started 10 years ago with her husband. Her profile gave a vague description of the company and said that they provided alternate distribution channels for Fortune 500 companies like Macy’s and Nike. That was all. So I set up a call to learn more and this guy, her "business partner", called me and told me some stuff about pairing emcommerce with social media. I asked what their product was, what they did on a day to day basis, and he gave me another vague answer. When I asked what my position would be he said it depending on my strengths – it could be "back end, soft skills". I mean I’m a business student and this business summary would have gotten an F in my communications class. He said nothing about what they did, how they did it, what I would do, but he asked me to meet with him so that he could show me what they did (because it’s easier to show than tell) around January 18th to talk again since I’m about to leave for Winter Break. He mentioned that he had been doing these calls for 10 years. In no way would someone working for a company for 10 years give that vague of a company overview. When he texted me to "recap" our conversation I politely declined to meet up and said that I didn’t think I was a good match. I asked for his name so I could connect on linkedin (the page for Just Enterprise LLC does not list any employees). He didn’t respond, likely because he sensed I was going straight here. I googled Just Enterprise and found a few things, mostly not exact name matches and none in San Jose where they said that they were located. I found something called F Just Enterprises that said it was founded in 2010, but she says her company started in 2005. The whole thing was weird and definitely not legitimate. I don’t know if it’s a pyramid scheme or what but I don’t want any other college student to have to go through this because it was scary. I didn’t give them information besides my phone number and whatever is on my linkedin but I’m still rather worried now. The phone number of the guy whose name I didn’t get is 408-206-9914 if that helps. Yen’s number that she messaged me on LinkedIn is 408-239-9504. Even if they are somehow a legitimate company, I don’t understand how they don’t have a website or any information public. They have to be doing something sketchy or scammy.
