Type of a scam Tax Collection
Hi,
This scam is being carried out via telephone.
These people call and leave automated voice messages saying criminal charges are being pressed against you and to call them back. They tell you you owe thousands of dollars to the IRS and that liens will be placed on your personal property, your driver’s license will be suspended, there is a warrant out for your arrest for tax fraud, and you face imprisonment of 5+ years. They also tell you you must be honest when speaking to them because the line is being recorded by the IRS and your words can be used against you in criminal proceedings. These people pose as officers of the law and if you call them out on being a scam, they say they are "tracking your location" and sending a police officer to arrest you.
They are threatening and want you to feel afraid. While they "explain the charges" they order you not to speak until they give you permission.
They are calling from multiple numbers. Below are two, I’m sure they have more. Don’t give these people any personal information whatsoever.
