Type of a scam Employment
Yesterday, I received an email from James Muller ([email protected]). In the email it stated that The HR Dept had viewed resume in response to an Craigslist listing for a Graphic Designer and I was to have an online interview via Google Hangout. I downloaded the app on my phone and messaged the "HR Manager" (Mrs. Kim Beard) at [email protected] She had a Facebook and LinkedIn presence so I though it was OK. Should have Googled Employment scams. I spent 2 hours in the interview, ending with "you’re hired." I was directed to sign on the Hangout app today at 8 am so I could be connected to my "Supervisor/Trainer." I messaged him at [email protected] She said they would send me a check with which I would by a computer, printer, tablet, etc. He also emailed me a contract, which I filled out my name, address, and phone number. Then I signed it and scanned it back to them. I questioned her about being uncomfortable providing my personal information to a company when I haven’t met with someone face to face. She didn’t answer me and told me to report online tomorrow again at 8 am. Feeling very suspicious after I received the check and address did match. I ceased all contact with them and reported it to the proper authorities. After searching the internet for hours in every possible way, I searched "interviews by Google Hangout" and SCAM was the first word I saw. I read quite a few of the links and it matched my experience. I searched the company, Graphic Packaging International, It’s a real company but they were being duped too! Called there HR Department directly and they said they only go thru applications on there career website. Lesson learned.
