Type of a scam Tech Support

I was contacted by someone claiming to be a Microsoft technician (Thomas Quinn) stating that they were aware of some technical problems that I was having with my computer. They began discussing the problems that I was having, and they then requested remote access to my computer. I provided them with my IP address and they began showing me trojans and malware that was supposedly causing issues with my computer. The technician began requesting payment for equipment to repair my system. I stated that I did not feel comfortable purchasing anything online using my credit card information. The technician then stated that because I couldn’t purchase the equipment, he would have to disconnect my IP connectivity to prevent any further attacks on my system. The technician then deleted all of my icons and my computer will not restart. The technician claimed to be from trItecheach.com
