Can’t remember if I received an email or found the certification course online (believe it was an email marketing campaign), which is how I initially found out about Imparture Ltd. They had a web page that mimicked TripAdvisor, so I didn’t think twice about checking the actual URL since I’ve used TripAdvisor in the past and believe it to be a trusted source.
The company reviews and course syllabus looked great, and since Imparture had a social media presence I didn’t have any concerns about it NOT being a legitimate company. Paid $1,345.00 for the Social Media Recruitment Immersive class and was sent a follow-up invoice from a "Lynn Turner-Graves" stating that I would receive course materials 12-14 days before the first class. The online course was supposed to be 2 days per week (T/TH) for 2.5hrs for two weeks (12/30-1/10). December was a busy month, so I didn’t realize until the week prior that I hadn’t received any additional information from the company.
When I went back to the website I purchased the class from, it was invalid: "Error 522, Connection Timed Out." That’s when I noticed that Imparture hasn’t been active on LinkedIn for ~7 months, so I then sent an email to [email protected] and tried calling the number provided but never received a response. After that, I immediately called my bank to file a dispute and was thankfully issued a full reimbursement.
