Type of a scam Tech Support
I plugged in new Dell computer, purchased online from Costco. No instructions came with it but right away a phone number appeared saying to call if you had questions. I called the number, the guy said he would install Microsoft Office and security and it would cost $399. I figured he was associated with Dell so figured it was normal. I was distracted, getting ready to go on a trip the next day. They asked for a check, put it on the printer and send a copy to them, then put the check in the mail. I asked to use credit card and they said they didn’t take credit card. I thought it was odd, but again…Costco computer, Dell, all legit. Went on trip and got three calls from 833 area ode all inquiring about the computer and was it ok. I said not really I didn’t get the mouse and keyboard set up wirelessly.
I have had to put a freeze on my bank account because they now have my ck and number. They made it sound like they were the help site for Dell. I made an error and am paying for it….having to close out bank account and take computer back to Costco because I feel like it is infected!!!!
