Type of a scam Employment
I applied for a medical transcribe position on Indeed. The individual contacted me through indeed and asked for my resume to his personal email. He went by the name of John Rice. He said the position was filled but has a position for an office assistant. He said this position can be done from home. I then received a text message from John 1 week later asking if I would like the position. When I asked for more details he said the tasks are for whatever he needs done. He said for my first task, in order to receive my salary, I need to provide my bank account information. He said he would direct deposit $3000 into my account once I finish the task. I inquired what the task was. He said it is for foster homes. This was not related to the job I applied for and he tried getting my bank information without and interview or signing employment paperwork. When I questioned him about being scammed, he got defensive and stated "you shouldn’t have that idea in your head." I called the company I applied to called Homestead Research Institute, there is no record of John Rice as an employee.
