Monday at 4:24 PM, phone call from 608-709-7608, caller ID showed Madison, WI. Man identified himself as representative from Hick’s and said a process server failed to serve me this morning at my home address. He stated my full name and my street address. He said I am being sued for defaulting on a PayDay loan (I’ve never taken a PayDay loan). He then cited the last 4-digits of my social security number and again said my full name and asked if this is who he was speaking with. I didn’t acknowledge and said I didn’t want to talk to him because I didn’t know what he was talking about nor who I was talking to. He said he was trying to help me; then he transferred me to the "law department" where they would have details as he couldn’t open the docket. Another man came on the phone; this man stated my entire name, my birthdate, my social security number, my home address…he had all my personal information. He said I was being sued. Again I said that I didn’t want to talk to him because I don’t know what he’s talking about nor who he is. He said I had taken a loan with Bank of America while I was working for some company (which I didn’t even recognize the name of). He cited a docket number and was getting irritated with me because I just kept saying no. He said, "I’ve already told you who I am and you’re in a lot of trouble. You’re telling me you didn’t take out a loan while you were working for (whatever company)?! You’re a damn dirty liar!" He said they were trying to help me; again I said I didn’t know what he was talking about. Then he told me…good luck in court. I hung up. A little later I called the number back, blocked, and they answered "Hicks, how can I help you?" I looked online and don’t believe there is a Hicks Recovery nor a Hicks Process Service in Madison. The phone number searched on the internet doesn’t bring back a business; it brings back Lacrosse WI. I have never taken a Pay Day nor Bank of America loan. That these people have all my personal data is very unnerving. I did not give it to them; they already had it. I didn’t acknowledge anything they said. After the call I requested and reviewed my credit report and found nothing sketchy on it. I also put a fraud alert on my credit file just now. I never should have answered, but at the same time at least I am aware that they have my data so I could take some action.
