Type of a scam Rental
I was almost scammed out of a deposit and first month’s rent for a rental property this person by the name of Harris Howard posted on Craigslist. I emailed him back and forth, and he tried to press me to send a deposit to secure the space before I even viewed it. I have enough street smarts to know not to do that. I researched the complex and came upon an agent named *** *** listed as the realtor online. I found *** number, called her, told her the situation, and she confirmed it was a scam. She said she spoke to a woman last week who did get scammed out of her deposit. She told me to report it to the police which I called them and attempted to. However, because I hadn’t provided any money, I didn’t have a case and the officer told me to report it to Craigslist. I sent Craigslist a report via contact form.
