Type of a scam Employment
We have heard from several people that individuals are misrepresenting themselves as recruiters or personnel managers from Hager Companies though e-mail communications (only). They have obtained detailed information about Hager Companies that appears valid. They tell individuals they have a job for them (Customer Service type position) and after several e-mails and confirmations, they then send them a check to deposit in order to purchase a computer. They ask for the individuals bank name and a request a copy of the deposit receipt, so it appears that they are trying to get personal bank account information. The email addresses used by these individuals are gmail accounts. Valid Hager Companies e-mail addresses all include @hagerco.com. Hager Companies would never hire people by e-mail communication only and would never send money to purchase a computer. This appears to be a scam in order to obtain personal bank account information, and Hager Companies efforts to communicate with the scammers have been unsuccessful. I do not know if these individuals have actually lost money or not – I am assuming they did not proceed as directed since they contacted Hager Companies corporate office and we advised that this was a scam.
