Type of a scam Tech Support
A pop up identifying itself as Microsoft asked me to call a number IMMEDIATELY to resolve a possible virus that could result in loss of privacy with respect to credit cards, passwords etc. warning me to not close out of the “alert”
Stupidly, I called the number
More stupidly, I allowed remote access to my computer (unbelievable, I know)
I thought Microsoft was trying to get to the bottom of a serious hack
By the end of a 40 min phone call I realized she (Zaina Gates) was trying to sell me firewall protection
I said no, but likely too late. Now my battery is out of my computer (hoping that helps) and trying to figure out what measures I need to take to protect what may turn out to be identity theft.
