Contacted "breeder" about purchasing a dog for our son for his birthday. Breeder had text a couple of times with us. Upon reviewing contract my spouse and I decided to purchase a puppy. Breeder sent us a contract that we reviewed and signed after he signed it. We sent money via Venmo which happened to be to a different name than the one on the contract (red flags started to go off in our minds). My spouse text the breeder to see when puppy could be flown to us as he states on his website that puppies will be shipped for free even though we paid a $95 fee (another red flag) and the breeder stated he would get with his airline agent to arrange and get back with us. We went another day when another text came to us stating that the pet courier required a $410 refundable pet insurance fee. At that point we realized despite hoping that this was a legit business–we were being scammed. We responded that we were not providing him with any more funds and for him to figure that out or refund us our money….to which we got no response.
