Type of a scam Online Purchase
I listed a vehicle for sale on Craigslist in Washington State. I got a phone call from a number listed in Pennsylvania. The person said "Is your car still for sale?" I replied "Are you talking about my truck." Then we were "cut off."
Next I got a text. "Sorry, my phone has terrible reception right now–was interested in your automobile."
My reply was that it was a truck. I asked if they were in Washington state, because the phone id said Newberg, PA.
They did not answer where they were. They asked a couple more questions and then sent me a link and insisted I get a report.
Most people ask for CarFax. They want me to go to http://easyvinchecks.com and then send report to [email protected]
I said I was not paying for that report (It was $19.95) but they could do it themselves if they wanted.
I felt I was being scammed. The whole thing just felt off.
So, I went to vehiclehistoryreport.com, which is a free report, and sent it to them.
That was the last I heard from them.
I went online and found many reports of the exact same scenario.
I have been getting calls everyday from all over the country and I am not answering.
BEWARE! Do not spend the money. The whole thing is bogus.
