Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
On October 26th 2017 I was contacted by a man named Coleman. He replied to an ad I posted on Craigslist and asked if I was still searching for work. He told me his company was doing seasonal car promotions and I would be paid $550 weekly for allowing a specialist to place a decal on my vehicle. On November 1st I received a check via FedEx for $1750. I asked why the upfront pay wasn’t $550 as originally discussed. He said the $1200 would be sent back to his socialist for review. I was suspicious as he told me I had to deposit my check at a bank. I had the bank examine the check after initially trying to cash it at Walmart. It was reported fraudulent so I asked the bank to copy the check for reporting purposes. Luckily no harm was done on my end. However, Cole texted me a nasty threat stating his Specialist would come after me for not sending the money.
