Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

This company called our front counter claiming we ordered cartridges for our printer from them. Our printer is under contract with a legitimate company in our local area that auto ships our toners based on a metered counter. This company called and made it seem to our employee that they were authrorized to ship toner for our printer and sent the toner along with a bill for nearly $500 for a single cartridge which normally retails for less than $100.

They shipped the cartridge under false pretenses and use deceptive practices to deceive employees answering the phone that they are legitimately authorized to service our business.

Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

Someone named Mike Basset called claiming they had taken over the supplies portion of our contract with CDS (our Xerox supplier). He was a very slick, smarmy sounding guy and said he’d be sending us toner and would mail our invoice. Claimed we were getting such a great discount and tried to distract me with gift cards from Starbucks and Visa. We get the invoice and it’s ridiculously high, but we paid it thinking it was real. But I call my original Xerox supplier and he says he’s never heard of Global Imaging Products!

First of all, the phone numbers he gave initially went to Google Voice, super sketchy. Then he calls me back and I said to please send another invoice (so I can get an email address from them). Another guy, Nicholas Perry from Customer Service, sends it and I call them out on them LYING to us about being our new supplier. Now I’m returning the toner they sent and unclear if they’ll refund us. Always double-check with your original supplier!
