Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

I need to cancel my membership. I tried online, and would not submit my request, Said I had to call this number. When you call that number, you have to go through all kinds of offers, just to have them hang up on you. Tried again, and still the same results. I tried to leave a negative message on Facebook, and it would let me post it. What a bunch of crooks.

Type of a scam Credit Cards

Called said they worked for Experian and I had a chance to lower my credit card interest because I always paid my payment on time and more than the amount due. Then they asked if I liked this I said yes, then they asked for my credit card number. I told them I wasn’t interested and hung up . They sounded foreign.

Type of a scam Credit Cards

I received an automated phone call asking if I wanted to lower my credit card interest rate. I pressed "9" for yes and it connected me with a live person with a foreign accent. He said I had been selected to receive a 6% interest rate due to the fact that I have one or more credit cards and that I always make my monthly payment on time and sometimes pay more than the minimum payment. I asked him with credit card this was in regards to (even though I only have 1) and he said he did not have that information yet. He said this was autodialed by Experian and that I had been selected due to making my payments on time. I asked why this was being offered and he said that they had reached their 1 million person mark of people cancelling their credit cards due to the high interest rates and they were trying to get people to stop cancelling their cards.

He told me that in order to proceed, that he needed me to verify my card expiration date, last 4 digits of card and something else. It triggered an alarm inside me and I told him that I did not feel verifying anything other than my expiration date and that he would have to prove to me that he knew the type of card I had from that. He said ok and hung up on me. I immediately looked at my phone and called the number back (which was a local number). It went to voicemail of an individual that sounded like a personal phone number…definitely not a business or someone that worked for Experian. In fact, I have no doubts that this was a scam and that the person on the vm has no idea that their number is being used for this. Maybe it is an old phone number, but I’m not sure how they would have access to someone’s old voicemail?? The phone number I received the call from was 405-831-8145.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

Experian Credit Agency advertises a free/$1 credit check and then enrolls the participant in a monthly service, with a monthly charge. This is unclear to the participant and after finding the charges on my credit statement, I see tons of complaints about it online. I contacted customer service and the billing department and they took off one of two charges. They claim enrollment in the monthly charge is clearly stated somewhere. My experience is that it is not and I feel mislead and scammed. I believe this is happening to many people.

Someone called from this number pretending to be Experian and saying they could lower my rates. I called the number back and no one answered. It was clearly a fake phone call, because Experian wouldn’t call from a local number.
