Total money lost $2.95
Type of a scam Online Purchase
Searched Google for a user’s manual for my printer. Link came up in results indicating PDF of manual was available for free. Linked to eyrieplay.com. Had to sign up for 5-day free trial to see catalog. Asked for card info, assuring that nothing would be charged unless you signed up for premium membership. Next step looked like it could be indicating they were going to charge $2.95 to go further, but was very ambiguous. Continued and finally got access. Couldn’t find manual. Called toll-free number. Rep informed me they "don’t carry manuals." Checked my account and I WAS charged $2.95. Cancelled membership and received confirmation of cancellation online. We’ll see if that worked! Feeling very foolish for providing card info. Guess I’m just too trusting.

The initial website of theater21.com requests for you to login/become a member. This initial website is quite fancy and promises brand-new movies. Once you get to the login information they request a credit card; which you won’t be billed unless you purchase something. I gave this information and then immediately was taken to another website – the members.eyrieplay.com. Immediately it was apparent to me that it was a total scam (none of the promised new movies were listed just a few old movies on a basic screen.). I immediately went to cancel and then found out if you didn’t cancel w/in 5 days you’d be charged and all the email, etc. options could take 3-5 business days to transact. But for the great price of $1 you could cancel immediately. I, of course, figured $1 was worth it (teach me a lesson, that something too good is obviously a scam) so paid the money. At this point, I don’t know how much more money has been charged/lost (havne’t seen everything come through on my credit card yet). The problem now is they still have my credit card #, email, etc. stored for their basic account, with no option to cancel that. I have requested numerous through their email links and they just state it’s cancelled, but I can go via the link (only in the email provided) and still see all of my information. How can I get it deleted? I am about to cancel my credit card since I am quite worried that it may be sold, etc. regardless, today I again went to the original website and found if you click; to start a new account each time/each computer/device it takes. you to a totally different entity (2 examples so far: members.melicplay.com, members.eyrieplay.com, babymedia.net); so obviously when you do searches you aren’t really seeing people saying it’s a scam, b/c its a different website each time.
